'Ora' was opened in 1990 by Jane and Michael Sofos who loved the feeling of Sharrowvale Road and wanted to bring a bit of 'mediterranean' spirit to Sheffield.
"From the beginning we loved the feel of Sharrowvale Road and were convinced that it was the right place for 'Ora' which was,at that time, the only shop of it's kind in the area. Over the years a really good mix of interesting businesses have opened up around us, giving Sharrowvale Road the character it's famous for today".
Since September 2014 I am the new proud owner of ORA Gallery. My name is Marika and I am Italian. I love design and architecture and ORA has always been for me the first place to go to look for interesting beautiful presents.
Following the previous owners ethos I now look for products that are well made, well designed and well priced. While keeping all the companies Michael and Jane have worked with for years, there are now some new exciting lines in the shop like the beautiful Industrial Jewellery designed by Hila Rawet Karni, or the beautiful objects that Ella Doran designs in her London Workshop.
One of my favourite aspects of running ORA is to look for local makers in a city so rich of talent. Two local artists have now a space in ORA with their beautiful paintings, and Heidi Bennet keeps producing exciting colourful jewellery that so many are falling in love with. At the same time I am very proud to stock the beautifully crafted jewellery Jenny Gill and Adele Taylor produce.
I am going to slowly update this site with all new stock and special offers. Any comment is more than welcome. In the meantime I would like to tank all the people that in the last three months have taken the time to come to ORA to buy or browse. I have been amazed by the variety of interesting people I have met who have shown I am not the only one who loves this place so much. Thank you
